INALA, meaning abundance of goodwill in Zulu, is a Zulu ballet conceived to mark 20 years of democracy in South Africa and celebrates diversity today. This ambitious production embraces an exhilarating fusion of South African and Western cultures, live on stage. INALA was created by Sisters Grimm, multi-award-winning choreographer Mark Baldwin OBE, and featured Ladysmith Black Mambazo with current and former dancers from the Royal Ballet and Rambert. INALA was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016 for its original score, recognising what The Independent described as "stunning, contemporary South African vocal music"
INALA premiered at the 2014 Edinburgh International Festival Opening, selling out the largest theatre in Europe and The Edinburgh Playhouse, with over 3,000 seats to a rapturous reception. The Telegraph opined "If the ecstatic first-night reception in Edinburgh was anything to go by I've a hunch it will be a massive hit". INALA then came to London Sadler's Wells the same year for a further four sell out performances before its nine venue MBM UK regional tour where it received standing ovations at every show.
In 2019, INALA returns to London for its West End premiere, performing at The Peacock Theatre from 30 April to 18 May. The West End production will feature two-time Grammy Award-winning South African choral legends, Soweto Gospel Choir, with current and former dancers from the Royal Ballet and Rambert including Camille Bracher.!
